The long-awaited second album was created during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The enforced inward reflection during the lockdowns created the space for it.
A fortunate circumstance was the artist scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Science of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia: for the first studio recordings I composed pieces that create very different atmospheres, ranging from joyful to melancholic. With “My Starry Eyes” I also fulfilled my dream of a large-band sound: the wonderful Klaus Bernatzki wrote horn arrangements for three of my tracks, creating a powerful dynamic and completing the very diverse sonic colours of the album. In my lyrics I was able to express the things that are close to my heart and bring musical ideas to life that had been maturing within me for a long time.
A successful crowdfunding campaign was the second stroke of luck that ensured the completion of this rather elaborate production, with the participation of a total of 12 wonderful musicians. I am grateful and happy to have given my musical ideas and values space through “My Starry Eyes”, also with the support of my crowdfunding community. With Thomas Erkelenz as an experienced recording director and co-producer, I can now share this album with the world in high-quality recordings as both CD and vinyl. Everyone involved in this production, as well as the studios, are credited on the inside of the vinyl and in the booklet.
